Friday Finally

The week went by fast. Good thing.

We bought a new TV from our friends who left the island, but there was no power cord. So now I’ll be looking for a very specific power cord.

Still not back in my office at work, was supposed to be back in last Monday, now the repair team is saying this coming Monday…

No news is good news I guess, nothing to post about can be construed as a good thing. On the other hand, this has never been a “whine & complain” blog (I hope).

Have a good weekend!

Friends Leaving

image

Some friends of ours are leaving the island today. They are, (listed from smallest to largest) Amanda, Pia, Laura & Oscar. Oscar works for CONCACAF, and the office is moving to Miami.

Oscar, bottom right, them Pia, Amanda, and Laura holding Amanda

Super sad to see them go. I especially liked hanging out with the girls. But we’ll see them soon, In November, we’re going to see them in Miami. And Miami is only an hours flight away!

It’s Thursday! I want to get a lot of work done today before the weekend! Friday’s coming!

Movie: Inside Out

image

I found the trailer for this move whilst looking for the trailer of another movie. I thought, “the Wife’ll like this!”

I had never heard of it which means the Wife never mentioned it, and I thought I had made a major discovery. I told the wife I had a movie picked out, and we watched it last night.

It was good, not for young kids, I don’t think. It was about this little girl who, like everyone, is kind of like a robot with a control panel. The emotions, (see picture above), take turns operating the controls. Memories are these balls that get stored in the mind, and are transported to and from storage by  these suction tubes.

Well, the girls family moves to a new city, and Joy and Sadness accidentally get sucked into one of the afore mentioned tubes and get transported far away from the control panel, and are trying to get back.

Meanwhile, without Joy or Sadness, the little girl is going a little bit crazy, as only Fear, Disgust and Anger are operating the controls.

Quite the good movie, much deeper than I expected, well worth a watch!

Hump Day! One week ago was my first day back after vacation. Seems like a long time ago, but the week is going fast. (Hope I didn’t jinx it by saying that!)

I have been rained on the past two days while ridding my motorcycle. Seems like we’re having period of sunny skies, but daily afternoon rainshowers… Not complaining. The low pressure systems and tropical storms are lining up and coming one after the other lately. Hurricane Danny is gone, and Erika (?) is cruising around out there. None are projected to come by here, fingers crossed.

Have a good Hump Day!

Mission: Impossible. Rogue Nation

image

The wife and I went to see Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation last night. It was quite good. My favorite part was the underwater scene. And the motorcycle scene, just like me coming home from work. The movie was very action-packed with a good plot. Good comedy inserts too. Totally worth seeing at the theater.

Monday is gone. Tuesday is here. I think I’ll be moving into my old office today or tomorrow. (remember, there was a fire while I was on Vacation in Canada)

The weather’s been weird, super hot, no breeze daily isolated thunderstorms, only raining on me when I’m riding my scooter. No rain for our plants at home.

And that’ll do’er for today. Have a good-un!

Another Monday non post

Another brain damaged, under-coffeed, no-topic Monday.
I shan’t bore you trying to make nothingness more interesting, I barely left the house all weekend. Wife went out with girlfriends Friday, I stayed home. Saturday I mowed the yard. I did go to the grocery store also Saturday

Sunday I lazed around while the wife crocheted.

And that’s it. I just want more coffee. And to stay home from work.

Hurricane Danny

Hurricane Danny is out there, no one else here seems to be worried about it yet but me. I guess he’s still pretty far out, but within the next couple of days, Cayman may  be “in the cone”. I feel like we should start getting ready. Ya know, beat the rush…. Danny is supposed to weaken to a tropical storm from a hurricane in the next couple of days, maybe we’ll get some rain and I can wear my new raincoat!

It’s Friday, I’m not as excited about it as I thought I would be all week. Maybe the realization hasn’t sunk in yet because it was a short week for me.

I feel tired this morning, I woke up at 4, an hour early, and couldn’t get back to sleep.

I haven’t checked the local weather yet, and don’t know it it’s car or scooter today… We’ll see.

Have a great weekend!

Feels Like Tuesday,

But it’s THURSDAY!

While I was on vacation, there was a fire in my building. An air conditioner. My office wasn’t damaged, but since there’s no power, I had to move to another office in a different building until it gets cleaned up. The whole building is covered in soot. Glad my door was closed.

Last night I made meatloaf for dinner. My wife said it was my best yet. 2 lbs of 97% lean hamburger, about half a cuppa Panko breadcrumb things, 2 eggs, a flat handful of dried onions and a generous squirt of hot sauce. And salt n pepper. Knead it all into a ball, plop it in yer oven pan, make a pretty design on top with ketchup, and bake for an hour at 375.

I got pretty angry this morning, thinking about work, but I think I’ve calmed down now.

“Bring the weekend”, he said, after only one day back at work from vacation.

I Now Believe Global Warming Is Real

image

When we were at (and on) the Athabasca Glacier, there were photos that showed the glacier receding over the years. My brother in law in Drake Bay, Costa Rica, last night was telling my wife about his colleague/associate/acquaintance has been measuring the decline in the numbers of frogs and snakes in the rainforests. When I got certified to scuba dive in 1981, we’d see sharks on practically every other dive, often groups of sharks. Now, seeing a shark is rare, one in ten or more dives.

Glacial decline has been measured since the 1850’s, (according to an article on Wikipedia), so I’m not sure it’s all humans fault, but I think humans main power is destructive and we need to change. I remember a book I read years ago, “Mutant Message Down Under”, and ask, Which society is more advanced? One that lives in a place 10,000 years, and you can’t even tell they were ever there? Or a society that practically destroys it’s environment with pollution and war in 250 years?

I think the answer is obvious.

Today is my first day back at work since my vacation. blah. Why do I have to go work to get money to buy a fish for dinner when I could just go out and get the fish myself. Because I also have to pay for my house and the bills. The whole system of money has something inherently wrong with it.

Home From Canada

We’re home from Canada. Got back yesterday afternoon. Glad to be home, sad to have left Canada. It was good, we were there for their two weeks of summer. It will be freezing in a couple of weeks, I was told.

I definitely miss my brother in law and sister in law though. They are the coolest couple.

Travlin Tim took a fall on vacation, and  has been glued back together…. again, but he’s missing the tip of his hat. Somehow he came out of his seatbelt after our helicopter ride.

I’m back to work Wednesday, not looking forward to that.

Slept 11 hours last night, I needed it, apparently.
