Is it Friday?

It doesn’t feel like Friday. It’s pouring rain still. I’m overloaded at work. I go on vacation tomorrow. I don’t feel like I’m going on a holiday.

I’m trying to think of something positive to write…

I am picking the OI girl at the airport tomorrow.
It’s Friday!
I’m going on vacation tomorrow!

Home again

I’m home from the Brac, I was trapped over there because the flights were over-booked. I got back on this island around 6 and just got home.
I’m really tired and going straight to bed.
Oh yeah, I forgot to say, it is POURING rain.

I’m off!

In more ways than one!

I’m off to the Brac! I’m going to the airport and I’ll be back in about 26 hours from now!

Last night my transmitter went down again, this time hard. It seems to have multiple problems. Something must have happened, power surge or lightning or something.

I was so tired when went out there, I was getting ready for bed when I found out it was off. I came home a little after 1 AM and passed out immediately.

Tomorrow, I’ll go almost directly out to the transmitter when I get back on this island.

One of my two stations is off the air!

That’s bad, really bad.

Tuesday for you

Monday for me.
Yesterday was a holiday here. But last Friday was a workday.
I went to bed at about 9 last night and woke up at 3:35 AM, awake-awake.
I am looking forward to the day, I am going hunting for some 20 amp fuses. And I have to write a paper about what antennas we have at what height on the tower.
So I’ll be working, but I’ll be out of the office.
Tomorrow I’m going to work on Cayman Brac, and I’ll be seeing the OI Girl!
Then Saturday we’re going on vacation and we will NOT be taking a computer with us.
Thats the plan, anyway.

Decisions decisions

Did you ever reach a point in your life where you had to make a decision that you knew would determine the course of your life forever? For example, someone just graduating High School choosing to go to college or join the military. Or someone who is getting married but just isn’t quite sure if it’s the right thing to do.

Around 1980, there was a plane crash at O’hare Airport. I was in the Navy, IF I hadn’t gotten busted for pot, and IF I hadn’t been planning on going to the east coast of the US instead of the west coast, I would have been on that plane. The reality is, I wasn’t even close to being on board, but when it went down, I thought, “I could have been on that plane”. I was only two “IF’s” away, how far is that? People on that plane were going to the school I was going to.

I wonder what would have happened if I had married that girl instead of breaking up. What if I had gone to college instead of the military? Would I have wrecked my car if I wasn’t drunk? What if I had chosen the red shirt instead of the blue one?

What if, instead of making a desision, we could split ourselves off into clones and do both? And see the results? “there’s the other me, married with 50 kids” There’s me again, in jail for robbing the bank! “I wish that other me had folded that parachute better, he’s dead!, glad it’s the me me who chose not to skydive!”

I wish I was that me instead of me me! Whoa! I’m glad I’m not THAT me!!

Every decision, no matter how small, doesn’t always radically change our course in life, but every teeny decision can and sometimes they do.

What if we could see the results of our decisions more clearly before we make them, would we have chosen the same path we chose? I would, for the most part, because I’m afraid that if everything in my life didn’t happen the way it did, then I might not be me. But still,
what if. . . . . .

Sunny Sunday,

Last night, I ws called into work. One of my transmitters was off the air. I went to the transmitter site and found a blown 20 amp fuse in the IPA power supply, (remember me telling you about the IPA and the FPA? ). The biggest fuse I had that was the right physical size was only 8 amps, so I turned down the power and ran it overnight with an 8 amp fuse.
By the time I woke up this morning, it was off again, because the fuse had blown. Here everything is closed on Sunday so I borrowed a 20 amp fuse from a friend and went out and put it in. Then I went to the beach (At the beach, first, I listened to Garbage V 2.0 on my MP3 player and then read my book, David Poyers “Fire On the Water”. I came home around 4. Now its a little after 6 and I just woke up from a nap I don’t really remember laying down for and I am wondering where the day went.
As Forrest Gump would say, “That’s about all I have to say about that”
